10 Summer Essentials for Him

Around here, summer weather has come and is upon us in full force. With clear skies and highs in the 90s, it’s time to embrace all the outdoor adventures the summer brings. From summiting mountains to kayaking the river, camping and brews by the bonfire, I figured it was time to give all the guys out there some fashion options. Admittedly the blog has had a bit of a feminine flair over the years and I thought a few summer essentials for guys would be perfect as we begin planning for a summer full of sun and the outdoors.

A few notes: first I love men’s fashion. I might have a secret pinboard of men’s fashion I’ve been collecting over the years. With classic lines, patterns, and details, I love the simple edits that men’s fashion carries. Unlike trends for women, it’s the simple touches that make a guy’s look sharp and the added touch of manliness.  It’s the notes of the wingback shoe, the perfect shade of cognac in a leather bag, or the curve of sunglass frames. These are the items that set each look apart. Timeless, manly, and handsome. I digress.

With this curated collection, I opted for easy summer pieces that remain stylish, cool, and comfortable. Whether at the beach, the mountains, or spending the summer on the lake, these items can go with you anywhere. Bring on the sunshine and the water!

one: With a lightweight shell and coating, this jacket from K Way is wind and waterproof. Packable into a small pouch, it can fit anywhere. I love taking this on the boat for when the sunsets and the temperatures drop. A light layer for evenings out.

two: If you’re going for urban weekends away or have a few road trips scheduled, the coating and contrast on this bag, provides awesome details and can hold a haul, keeping the style game going strong.

three: We love spending our summers in National Parks and have plans to hit up a few this summer. On the list: Joshua Tree, Yosemite and Kings Canyon, and the Olympics in Washington. A lightweight and soft spun tee, we love celebrating the Parks and this graphic tee fits the bill for comfort and versatility.

four: With the sun means a huge need for sunglasses. We love Toms eyewear and these vintage inspired frames are rad. With the aviator shape, they work with a variety of face shapes and we love the matte finish.

five: Days at the lake, whether Whiskeytown or Shasta, means a great absorbent towel is a necessity. (We always have a towel ready to go in the car for any spontaneous adventures or evenings paddleboarding or kayaking under the stars.) An honest moment, the National Parks line from Pendleton is an absolute favorite of ours. In our home, pillows and bath towels come from this line as well.

six: Mirroring the casual look of chambray denim, these swim trunks have a bit of style and loads of comfort. We’re thinking they belong at the next jump off of a waterfall. Whatever the hike or jump, these shorts are lightweight and are intended to move with you.

seven: Summer means slip on closed-toe shoes. We love these. Perfect for walking around on boat decks and evening cruises. Get ready lake life!

eight: Around here we believe in working hard and playing hard. This is the bag that will take you from the trail to the river, and back to your work cube. The exterior is coated and the interior is lined keeping all your items in place.

nine: These are the sandals meant for an endless summer. With arches and a moldable foot bed, your feet will remain supported all season long.

ten: Regardless of where we head, we always think espresso should be on hand. The handpresso allows you to pull quality shots whether on the dock or at a breakfast by the campfire.
