A Thought for Friday

“Good writers show rather than tell. Stories are told in action. Life stories are no different.”  -Donald Miller

I came across this quote on my news feed last night and it struck a chord within me. Over this week I’ve been working on a few online courses, one of which has to do with writing and telling excellent stories as a creative and entrepreneur. As I reflect over the process I’ve been in the past few months, I’ve continually been asking myself, “Am I living the life story I want? Am I telling a beautiful story with what I have?” As I look over the highlight reels of my life, whether it’s on here, Instagram, or Facebook, I know that these items are incredibly curated, but do they tell a story that ultimately matters? Am I more consumed with achieving, growing readership, scheduling shoots, meeting deadlines than I am at being present, offering care and concern, and holding significant places in the lives of those around me? Am I loving those around me well through the actions, utterances, and nuances of my heart, filled with purpose and compassion, as I engage their hearts? I want my life story to be one that matters. One where I care about the details and stories of others, where I engage and love well, regardless of the space or platform. I want to live beautifully, love simplicity, and challenge others to do the same.

This weekend, may your life story be one told in action and compelled by love.
