The Dude Gift Guide: Valentine’s Day Edition

dudegiftguide_valentinesday

There’s something about Valentine’s Day that prompts us to get a little something for the guys we love. Due to the popularity of the gift guide at Christmas, I thought this updated valentine’s edition will help all of you. Something about shopping for your guys that seems to be ever challenging. Honestly, Valentine’s Day is a difficult and odd time in fashion and in the seasons. Some parts of the country are knee-deep in snow, while others are fully in Spring. Instead of focusing on clothing,  this edition is full of little luxuries that your man will love and may not spend on himself. Perfect for incorporating into his everyday routine, these items will hit just the right note of expressing love for the man in your life.

1) Hershel Supply Company Little America Mid Volume Backpack: Hershel Supply is a company that I’ve been following for a while now. Made in Vancouver, B.C., these bags have just the right note of vintage, heralding back to the days of patches, Boy Scouts, and the adventurers of yesteryear.  With beautiful masculine and simple details, this bag is the perfect pack for day-to-day use and to use as a carry-on for travel. Every product I’ve purchased from Hershel Supply has been of impeccable quality and has stood the course of time.

2) Tea Tree Beard Oil from Beardbrand: When it comes to beards, Beardbrand is the best. I opted for the tea tree oil for this edition as it helps with dry flaky skin, reduces acne, and can sooth any chaffing that typically comes with cold winter air.

3) Beer Making Kit from Brooklyn Brewing: Have a guy that loves brews and has wanted to venture into making his own? This kit from Brooklyn Brewing includes everything he will need to get started. You can spend your Valentine’s evening enjoying this homemade IPA.

4) Jawbone Jambox Bluetooth Speaker: I have had this speaker for years and use it everyday. Pairing with any bluetooth device (I mainly use my iPhone), this speaker holds charge for up to ten hours and is incredibly portable. I’ve taken it backpacking, to music festivals, and for dance parties around the house. It’s an essential to any music lover.

5) Scary Close by Donald Miller: If I could pick one author to sit down and grab a cup of coffee with, it would be this man. Author of the ever popular Blue Like Jazz, in Miller’s latest book, he dares to be truly vulnerable and at the age of the 40, vows to be himself regardless of the cost. I began this book yesterday and am incredibly impressed. Miller continues to push himself and dares greatly in his writing. I would suggest reading this one with your partner.

6) Le Creuset Cast-Iron Dutch Oven: If your man (secretly) wishes he could be on Master Chef, loves talking about ingredients, and is the chef in your house-this gift is for him. Perfect for soups, stews, braising meats, and even baking bread, this signature kitchen classic will be passed down through the generations and will be used over and over again.
