A new year has come and you’ve probably noticed things have gotten slightly quiet around the blog. That’s for good reason. More than anything I’ve noticed a shift within the blogging space and even within myself. Now, we have more content than ever before. While I firmly believe that blogging will have a resurrection and culturally we’ll return to reading and chasing slow, I’ve discovered that even with less content, the same amount of traffic is coming to the site. A simple lesson? It’s too much content for ALL of us to handle.
With this in mind, we’re making a few simple switches and wanted to give each of you a heads up, which is where this post lets you into my process.
At the beginning of the year, I began to question much of this space and I quickly realized a few driving lines that were missing and needed some correction. In the blogging world, it’s all too easy to get caught up. Caught up in the comparison trap, trying to reach numbers, hit sponsored posts, and relaunch the next thing. Last year, I succumbed to trying to do it all as a solopreneur and it simply didn’t work. I was constantly spinning plates, buried under piles of work, and ignored the very things that mattered to me in life – well the often took the last priority.
So what are we changing?
This year, we’re bringing back creativity for the sake of creativity. It means passion projects, bringing people we love back to the table, and taking stake in this sweet town of mine. We’ll still be providing e-courses, services, and digital products, but also know that many of you simply come for an amazing recipe, to look through the shop, or to have a virtual coffee and heart-to-heart.
Creative community is invaluable and we’re ready to take our rightful place again.
A few years ago, we had the heart to open a sweet little space and a place for creatives to call home. It was stunning, beautiful, and due to unforeseen circumstances we had to close its doors far earlier than its time. Since then, there has been a little void in my heart. Maybe because I know what could be, but also because I longed for a more active part of it all. Don’t get me wrong, I love serving my clients and spending time behind screens to bring digital solutions their way. However, this year I’m ready to bring together the creative community through something stunning that we’ve never done before. Redding, stay tuned we have something beautiful coming this spring…
Showing up consistently on Instagram and Facebook Lives.
I long to hear from and meet with each and every one of you. Whether you’re pursuing big dreams or simply pouring into littles at home. We know for each of our readers their interests very but we long to spend more time with each and every one of you. Meet Open Table. Once a week, we’ll be showing up on Instagram to cook one of our favorite recipes and talk about various topics in business. As an entrepreneur we know it can get fluffy and there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors behind the space. By going live, we long to pour into each of you all and talk about the very things each of you desire (not to mention create some amazing food!).
Posting more often on Instagram and decreasing our weekly posts to 3 times a week.
This year we’re focusing on quality over quantity. (We’ve noticed our numbers are the same regardless.) You’ll find me over on Instagram posting daily, but for the blog we’re choosing to find thoughtful topics that we know you all will love and will refer back to over and over again. (Through our top posts of 2018, we quickly discovered that business advice, hacks, and marketing tips were the very things you wanted.)
Physical products are coming.
That’s right. We’ve been talking about physical products for months and months on end. This summer we’re working on a phenomenal line of products that show our heart – both for where we live and who we are on unlike ever before. Because we have learned the value of place and absolutely know you will love these beauties. More on that later….
And the freebies.
Let’s talk about some fresh updates to those. Because here’s the honest truth- we love working with small businesses and nonprofits. It’s the truly the best. We get to work with people we love everyday, watching their revenue increase and seeing stunning conversion rates. It’s more than beautiful design for us. It’s seeing dreams awakened and hope restored. But we also know for many business owners financial strain is huge and you’re trying to stay afloat with it all. We’re putting together some of the most amazing resources and guides to get you started.
Get on the list here!
We’re four years into Glisten and Grace and feel like we’re just getting started. We’re beyond thankful you’re here. Seriously. I get up every morning and do a little happy dance knowing you’re on the opposite site of the screen. I can’t wait to spend more time with you this year. Here’s to returning to the source of creativity, celebrating stunning local community, resourcing your dreams, and an amazing rest of the year with each of you! Cheers!
