Fall Fashion: Fall Basics

With the cooler temperatures, comes the love of all things pumpkin flavored, hot cups of coffee, and as always a few fall basics. This fall I’ve discovered a few pieces I absolutely love and have become staples in my wardrobe.

Keep on reading for some of my favorite picks for fall!

The basic tee.

For this fall, I’m still loving the drapey ,oversized tees. This season expect a few more points on shirt tails, playing with side slits, and asymmetrical hem lengths front to back. This black tee from PPLA is one of my favorites and finds its way into my looks weekly. Play with various neutrals. If you’re doing a capsule wardrobe, make sure to incorporate white, black, and a pop of olive for fall.

The perfect jean.

Over the past few months, I’ve fallen in love with the Jimmy Jimmy Skinny Jean from Paige Denim. I could wear in these jeans every day and be perfectly happy. They fit perfectly, hug all my curves, have an amazing stretch, and are incredibly soft. For fall, focus on boyfriend skinnies, a pair of deconstructed jeans, or try out the latest trend of the flare. Paired with a motorcycle inspired boot or some great wedge booties, these jeans can take you from morning to evening with all of your looks.

A good bag.

Lately I’ve invested in a few bags from Madewell. One is a tote for my everyday wear. It’s perfect for carrying my laptop, iPad for client meetings, and items for school. I purchased the tote in English Saddle color and absolutely love it. It is perfect for pairing with blacks, browns, or navy, complimenting any look. In the spring I purchased their black Glasgow satchel. This bag is great for running errands and carrying a bit less. With a crossbody strap, the bag has the ability to be worn on your arm as a signature bag, or by crossing your body.

Some good plaid.

Every year fall comes and with it comes the arrival of flannels, plaids, and oversized buffalo check. This year I’m playing with the scale of plaids, the layers of fabrics and playing with it as print outside of a strict flannel shirt. This coat from PPLA adds a signature pop to an otherwise simple outfit. I love this shirt from Others Follow as well. It’s the perfect way to incorporate a beautiful, saturated ombre with a plaid print in a light layer.

A soft oversized sweater.

With cooler evenings and fluctuating weather, a great soft oversized sweater is the perfect layering piece for fall. I love wearing oversized sweaters layered with lace trim tanks, over a pair of skinny jeans, or with a thick pair of high waisted black leggings.
