The Makeover Series: Our Entryway

makeover_entrywayHi Everyone!

Remember earlier this month, when I had mentioned that I would be starting to feature bigger projects on the blog? Well, today is the start of our makeover series. You’ll be seeing a sneak peak into the whole decorating process as I make our community rental house a home to all the girls who live here. Knowing this process will be limited due to time and finances, I’m excited to let you behind the lens, into the way I design spaces and to see an up-close look at my personal space.

Here’s what it looks like now:

Some of the things I love about the space. I absolutely love the two windows that flank the door and let in loads of natural light. Perfect for California days, the light welcomes you year-round. I am a big fan of the cabinet we currently have as our entry table. It provides much needed additional storage for the living room and is a great value from the Threshold line at Target. Our letter tray is a beautiful etched silver tray that was a vintage Goodwill find. At five dollars, it was the perfect steal to anchor the landing strip in our house.

I’m finding myself inspired by the use of various metallics combined with the use of natural wood. I’m want to have a entry and living space that is natural, simple, and beautifully curated. I’m hoping to source items that feel intentional where form and function meet seamlessly. Can we talk about how perfect the mirror is made from old wine barrels? Perfection.

Here’s my project list:

  • DIY a coat rack- use birch or multiple foraged branches
  • Fix threshold cabinet surface
  • Add fresh plants and succulents
  • DIY round wooden barrel mirror
  • Paint and add a new streamlined shade to lamp

What are some of the home improvements you are planning on making in 2015?
