Rest Easy

Do you ever have weeks where you’re reminded that it wasn’t all built in a day? This week has definitely been one of those weeks for me and I couldn’t be more excited for the weekend. Surrounded by people I care for, I know this weekend is going to have one focus-rest.

Sometimes I get caught up in the ideas of what life should be or what I desire, that I forget to carve out time for rest and refreshment for my soul. This weekend I may not get loads done, emails will wait, and Monday will probably hit me square between the eyes, but over the next few days you will find me reading a book in a hammock, sitting by a firepit late at night, or hiking to waterfalls, spending time taking care of myself. At moments I will be off the grid, granting myself the privilege of having moments shared with people rather than the whole world, if even just for a few moments,  silencing everything else that has been vying for my attention and coming back to what really matters.

Here are a few things I’ve been loving on the internet lately:

This dress from Everlane might be a new addition to my summer wardrobe. I’ve been looking for a simple chambray dress in a reasonable price range and think this one just might do the trick.

I have some almond flour to use up in my pantry and am thinking these pancakes look delicious. The Yellow Table never disappoints when it comes to recipes and these would be the perfect addition to any weekend brunch spread.

In honor of National Doughnut Day, I’m definitely craving a doughnut from Newport Beach’s Sidecar Doughnuts. If you’re looking for some inspired images of SoCal life and fresh doughnuts, make sure to follow them on Instagram.

Just in case you missed it. Here’s a wrap up of this weeks posts: Explore More: Kayaking Whiskeytown, City Spot: Heritage Roasting Co, and Burger of the Month: Game Sliders.

What are you up to this weekend? How do you rest easy?
