My Summer Makeup Picks

With the summer season in full force, I decided to let you inside my makeup bag. When it comes to summer makeup, I like to keep things light and minimal. I’m one who prefers a more natural look and was known for rarely wearing makeup in college. When it comes to choosing makeup, I’ve been impressed with how the makeup industry has adapted to the needs and demands of more natural products for customers. They have evolved far past the basic mineral powders of 10 years ago. I’ve found brands that I love and am always looking for the best makeup to place on my skin. With my day-to-day use of makeup, I like to keep a limited color palette of nudes keeping things light and bright.  These products are some of my favorites and will last in the water, sweat, and sun.

Keep reading for my summer makeup picks after the jump!

Face:

Arbonne Oil-Absorbing Day Lotion: I use this lotion in the morning post washing my face. It serves as a makeup primer, keeping things tight, moisturized, and provides SPF 20, giving much needed protection from the sun.

Bare Minerals Stroke of Light concealer: I love this concealer. Regardless of the hours of sleep I’ve gotten, this concealer feels clean to the touch and refracts light, covering up any of those unsightly dark undereye circles. It’s my go-to for photo shoots.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full-Coverage Foundation: I recently went on a hunt for new foundation and this has been a great discovery. With a SPF 15, it provides a completely natural product, with full coverage, and a light mousse texture. It is oil-free and lasts all day. A recent rave of this product, I spend a full day on a ski boat on the lake and regardless of the swimming this makeup lasted all day long.

Bare Minerals Blush in Aphrodisiac: Once I’ve applied a great base, I add a soft stroke on the forehead and apples of my cheeks to add back in color and contour.

Eyes:

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara: When it comes to water and sun filled days, I usually opt for a waterproof mascara. This mascara from Tarte has a great brush that gets even the smallest eyelashes.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector: When it comes to needing a morning refresh, a bit of this highlighter near the inner tear duct of my eye and along the brown bone and I’m good to go. It looks like I’ve had around 10 hours of sleep and a shot of espresso. Due to the cream nature of the product, I usually apply it with a clean q-tip.

Naked 2 Basics Palette: This palette is great and provides simple everyday looks. With a few swipes in the crase and the corners, my look is complete.
