Take It Easy

Happy Friday everyone!

You’ve made it! Whew. It’s been quite the week. With a continued crazy month, I’ve been trying to set aside time and take a few deep breaths. Last night, we finally got there. My roommate and I sat down with her family and we had a dinner. It was simple. A salad and frozen veggie pizza, but it was perfect. It was the first dinner we actually sat down and enjoyed in our new home. At our new kitchen table (repainted and refinished by our hands) and sitting under the new light fixture that we DIYed and hardwired with a bit of help. It’s been a lot of work to get to this point and with flowers on the table, yummy food in our stomachs, we were able to share the fruits of hard work with others. It is incredibly worth it.

It was the first time in weeks, where I chose to take it easy.

Our weekend will continue with a weekly outing to the farmer’s market, an event with a collaborator this evening, and finishing up a few more projects. (We start on reupholstery this week!) Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out the work-life balance. I find that as a freelancer and creative, I always live in this tension. I want to work harder, grow my business, and take on new dream clients. However, I still long to enjoy those that I’m close to, go on adventures, and live and love ridiculously well. It’s a beautiful tension, one that I’m learning to live in, and striving to thrive in. This weekend may you find moments to take it easy, go on that hike, read a good book that’s been on your nightstand, and gaze into a firepit under the starry sky.

Regardless of the space or place, take it easy.
