The Weary World Rejoices

Merry Christmas everyone!

As I write this post, it is a rainy afternoon in Seattle. This year one of my favorite Christmas carols has been “O Holy Night.” Maybe it’s due to my roommates serenades of this carol surrounding the piano or learning the story behind the carol. (Which is amazing. You should definitely check it out.) Regardless, I can’t think of a more perfect song for this year. I look at everything going on in the world. The ways war is waged against one another, whether with violence, with competition, with spirit, or with ideals. It is something is no longer possible to ignore. But more than anything, I am thankful for hope.

As described in “O Holy Night,” a thrill of hope where the weary world rejoices. Hope in a God that doesn’t disappoint. That God sees and cares and through the nature of love and generosity took the fullness of human form to bring peace on earth. For the moments where heaven comes to earth, invading our realities, and reminding us that God radically and recklessly loves without abandon. Today the world rejoices.
