This Weekend

Happy Friday everyone!

It has been a busy week and I’m looking forward to a few days to have some adventures, relax, and get caught up around home. With a traveling a few weeks ago and the beginning of the school year, assignments stacking up, and existing deadlines, I’m looking forward to the extra hours to resist being overwhelmed and enjoy where I’m at. This has been a big lesson for me this week. There’s something about embracing and celebrating the moments where you are. This week for me has been a crazy one. I’m learning how to step out, build new friendships again, and adjusting to a schooling environment that is far different from my normal. It would be all too easy to shut down, remain distracted by other responsibilities, deadlines, and items pressing for my time. It would be easy to forget to embrace this season for what it has to offer. Tonight I will raise a glass and celebrate. Celebrate the friendships I have foraged, have a dance party in the living room, and embrace exactly what this moment holds for all of us.

Here are a few links I’ve been loving on the internet lately:

Have you seen this Instagram account? Meet sociality barbie. Created by a wedding photographer from Portland, this project pokes fun at all the Instagram posts we so commonly add to our feed, claiming authenticity, but finding shots that look like carbon copies of other’s feeds. Have a good laugh and remind yourself that there’s something true within you, creativity that can bubble up, and a story that is worth writing that is yours.

This article about how to introduce your friends at parties is worthwhile. If you’re hosting a soiree or attending one anytime soon, it will change the vibe at any party you attend. That and you’ll be the friend of the year. You can thank me later.

Why does your business need core values? This article brought a fresh perspective to why we do what we do. Working on your branding and strategy for your small business? A must read.

As a designer and a creative, it is far too easy for self-doubt to creep in. This thought stuck out to me: what if self-doubt kills more dreams than anything else. Today take a deep breath, move on step forward, and face the doubt head on. You’ve got this. Believe in yourself.

What are you up to this weekend?
