Wear It Now, Wear It Then

With the onset of the fall season, means a dropping of temperatures in most of the U.S. What do you do when you live in a place that doesn’t always have four seasons? In California, we have more sunny days than not, but our fall seasonal weather has strong fluctuation to it. One day we can have a bit of rain with highs in the 60s, followed by a day of sunshine and highs soaring back into the 90’s. Since living in Redding, this has always been the question. How do you dress seasonally when the weather mirrors more hot or wet, than any seasonal fashion trends. What are ways you can follow fall trends, regardless of the temperatures and wear looks throughout the fall season?

Keep reading for all the ways we’re embracing fall fashion trends regardless of the weather!

Hello Color

When it come to color, rich merlots and burgundies have been a staple over the past few fall seasons. Whether it’s a bold statement with a pencil skirt and a lace up sandal in black suede with gorgeous tassels or transitioning the look with a cognac bootie and an amazing leather jacket. With a simple pop of color (even in simple of ways such as lipstick), you can transition any capsule wardrobe to days filled with leaves, a bit of rain, and cozy blankets.

A New Plaid

Plaid has always been a fall staple in saturated hues and schemes that remind you of rustic Americana. This year I’m ditching the classics and embracing beautiful white and black buffalo checks and plaids. Keeping things graphic and bold in nature, these plaids have a soft 90’s through back with notes of window panes and looks that are a bit more editorial in nature. (If you’re curious how to wear 90’s style without a literal throwback, this is a great way to do it.)

Light Layers

On of my favorite parts of fall is the ability to layer outfits again. In the summer heat, it’s super common to find fierce air conditioning in these parts, allowing for layering to resurface in full force. For the summer temps, I’ve been loving the sleeveless vest trend. Toward cooler months, I’ll be transitioning to beautiful sleeved blazer. I’m going for a breathable fabric and leaning toward summer weights rather than wool that would fill former wardrobes back east.
