Monday Thoughts: Jump In

A bit of chill to the touch. Sometimes it starts with the toes and the easing into the water. After a bit of adjusting to the temperature, I wade into the brisk lake water, waist deep. But other times at the lake I feel a bit different. The sun is shining, the fog rolls over the water, and I find myself in a need of a swim. Not caring about my hair, the feeling of the lakewater on my skin, I dive in head first. I jump in and while initially the crispness of the water is shocking, my body adjusts and it was just what I needed. My head surfaces back to the water and I come to realize one thing.

The water is perfect.

Much like my early morning dives in the lake, I’m coming to learn that when it comes to creativity, business, and any form of risk, sometimes it is best to jump in. The water’s fine. Some days it feels like murky waters, full of the unknown, and I’m treading to keep my head above water. But more than anything, I’m learning that it’s best to jump in. To take risk, to adventure, both on land and in life. What are the dreams that lie within your heart? What are the areas where you’ve been timid, moving slowly into the water, toe by toe and bit by bit? This week, may you take risk, pursuing your dreams, and going hard after the desires within your heart. Jump in, the water’s fine.
