Where to Stay: The Glass House at Sequoia National Park

Upon our summer vacation to the National Parks, this was a place I was ecstatic about staying in. More than a basic lodge or hotel room, the Glass House is stunning. After winning multiple awards from Sunset Magazine and other architectural quarterlies. Situated in Three Rivers, minutes outside of Sequoia and Kings Canyon park, this home is an architectural wonder.

The main house is situated with a private entrance to the creek, offering sleeping for four and a main bath. With two other glamping cabins available on site, you can easily accomodate large group. (Including outdoor showers and a compost toilet for use by those using the cabins.) Offering stunning views of the valley, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, outdoor ping pong table, fully equipped kitchen, projector and screen for movies, and trampoline.

This house was loaded with all the amenities for a holiday and was an amazing home base for our family vacation. After long days hiking in the park, there was nothing better to return home to this beautiful home and unwind. With a simple glass and metal construction, linear planes were kept in mind and spots of color were found strategically throughout the interior.

The kitchen offered a minimal profile while remaining fully equipped through a smart layout. Utilizing a stainless steel trough prep sink and space from the glass wall, pots and pans were streamlined in storage and hung on a low rail. Through such smart details clear sight lines are easily kept throughout the property.
