5 Things to Do This Weekend

Happy Friday everyone!

This week has been one of transition. We’ve received a new roommate, completed a few photoshoots, and are adding some routine and structure to the summer. As much as we love spontaneity and a more laid-back schedule, we know we work better with routine. This week was one for structure and putting good habits in place for the next few months. It meant early morning workouts, making pre production deadlines, and doing some networking. Hopefully next week it will mean getting back into cooking healthy meals (something we’ve completely lacked motivation this week) and working aggressively on new projects. This weekend is one of days at home, catching up, organizing, and enjoying our in process outdoor space. We have a few more projects to go, but are really excited with how things have turned out thus far.

Looking for a few things to do this weekend? Here are a few of our favorites:

1. Dirty Masala Chai Affogato. This shoot is beautiful and is serving as the inspiration for a local collaboration next week. I love the idea of chai affogato, shifting past a typical espresso, perfect for an afternoon treat with the warm temperatures of summer.

2. Ember Grilled Lobster Tails: These lobster tails grilled over charcoal embers look amazing. I’m thinking long summer nights, celebrating a birthday would be a great occasion for this recipe. With the new addition of a charcoal grill on the patio, I’m excited to great creative with grilling recipes and this looks like the perfect start.

3. Mid Century Modern Planter: When working and overhauling our patio, it’s been a challenge to find affordable modern planters in our local market. That and when it comes to planting larger items, things can cost a mint. This DIY planter is great for palms, citrus trees, and larger plants. Now to find someone with tools.

4. Cinder block planter and bar: When it comes to finding affordable materials, you really can’t beat concrete pavers and cinder block. After having a few meals outside, I’ve discovered that a few more surfaces for serving and food prep would help the space be far more functional. I’m planning on adapting this DIY a bit and placing it underneath our kitchen window. It will create an ideal space for additional succulents, herbs, and a bar top.

5. Hanging vertical planter: We’re hoping to have a functional and full container garden this year. With herbs, tea leaves, and flowers we will use in arrangements, it is a goal to have every item be both beautiful and functional for our life. Thus far we’re propagating succulents, have mint, tomatoes, and strawberries. It’s a start, but this DIY will allow our plants to go vertical and add a bit of a modern edge to the space. Hung from our privacy fence, it is ideal and will keep the price points low.
