7 Ways to Love Spring

It’s spring, which means we’re breaking out some favorites, a bit of color, and the reminder that the sunshine will be here to stay soon and very soon. After a much longer winter than the norm in NorCal, we’re beyond ready for spring weather and everything that comes with it.

Say it with blooms.

Over the winter, days are spent inside. With the first signs of spring, I long to be outside as much as possible. Bring the outdoors in with fresh plants, long stem tulips, and sprigs of foraged greenery. It’s the perfect, low-cost way to add spring touches to your interior while on a budget.

Plan the garden.

Whether you have a container garden filled with herbs or are planning raised beds filled with vegetables, herbs, and greens, there’s nothing like getting your hands in the dirt and watching something grow. This year, we’re rocking a container garden filled with our favorite herbs (rosemary, lavender, mint, and basil). It keeps things smelling amazing, fending off insects, and practical as we use all the plants in our garden when planning gatherings.

Gather and go outside.

It’s the perfect time of year for outdoor gatherings, nights on the porch, fairy lights on, and a simple cocktail to wrap up the day. Life is full and choosing community always comes with a cost. However, there’s nothing like the beauty of choosing your people, inviting them over, and firing up the grill. We love this recipe and it covers all the bases (it’s a healthy, seasonal, grilled take on a charcuterie that’s phenomenal). The best part? Everything is made on the grill and is a one platter meal. It’s everything.

Choose to add light and fresh smells.

There’s nothing like airing out a home after a fresh spring rain. While this happens, we love the run the diffuser with a blend of citrus oils. It purifies the air and smells amazing. During the day, when we’re away from home, we open all the blinds, letting the light in, creating a stunning and cozy workspace when we come home.

Travel and enjoy new places.

It’s the perfect time to try new things, explore trails, and find yourself in a different place. Whether it’s a foreign adventure and dream trip, a weekend trip getting lost in a favorite city, or simply a staycation falling in love with your hometown all over again, there’s nothing like the spring weather that sparks a bit of adventure. (We’re heading to Paris in less than 2 weeks and are beyond ready for our first trip there!)

Freshen up your wardrobe with a few favorite pieces.

Maybe you’re like me and typically live off a capsule wardrobe. This year choose to add variety and flair to your basics with a few patterned staples and pops of color. Play with acrylic, lucite, and an amazing nail color. It’s these simple moments that add a little something to each outfit. (Looking for this season’s trends? Head to our recent post here.)

Embrace seasonal produce.

Grab your favorite market tote and head to the farmer’s market, grabbing seasonal produce. I love using veggies in an amazing frittata or picking up additional ingredients for the week. For spring, you’ll want to buy: apricots, artichokes, arugula, asparagus, beets, carrots, chard, cherries, dandelion greens, fava beans, fennel, green garlic, grapefruit, herbs, kale, kiwis, kohlrabi, leeks, lemons, lettuce, morels, parsley, radishees, ramps, rhubarb, strawberries, and spring onions.
