Where I live goodbyes and transition occurs with every change of weather. It is a natural part of life, much like inhaling and exhaling. Goodbye parties, notes of encouragement, and farewell coffees are commonplace and a normal part of the social calendar. Last week was no different. However, I’ve learned the beauty of expressing value before someone is gone. I found a phrase coming out of my mouth. “You are one of the kindest people I know.”
Kindness is one of the beautiful parts of relationships. I remember watching a movie where it was stated, “Have courage and be kind.” Friends, there is always enough grace to be kind. It’s one of my highest values. Slow down. Embrace stillness. Stop the scroll. Be comfortable with silence. Allow kindness of heart and compassion for others to rise to the surface again. It is truly the best way to exist.
May you be one who is beyond kind. Who stops and extends a hand to others, who finds authentic connection in the line at Trader Joe’s, and who sees the heart of a fellow man. More than random acts, you choose to love and bless every person you encounter.
