Year in Review: 2016

2016 has been a crazy year. The first six months went by like a breeze and upon taking things a bit more serious in the last six months, things have felt like a blur. While projects have come at a rapid pace, there have been phenomenal moments of friends, adventure, and building a life I love. NorCal has become more of a home than ever. Every morning whether I’m headed to the studio, running errands, or going to workout, I pull out and face the snowcap mountains I love.

Gatherings & Parties

This year, I’ve come to embrace seasonal menus unlike ever before. With different occasions, I’ve enjoyed celebrations and hosting others with dinner parties in my home. There have been countless groups of friends surrounding our kitchen table over the past 12 months. Recipes have highlighted fresh ingredients, regions of the world, and holidays. Whether a French themed birthday, roasted lamb for spring, or a fall menu filled with Whole 30 recipes, the kitchen has remained my happy place has I explore with food and recipe development.

Style

My style has become far more basic over the past year. As I’ve grown in my twenties, I’ve replaced fast fashion with higher quality editorial pieces. Using more ethically sourced items, my closet has gone to neutrals with a pops of olive, camel, and navy throughout. (Confession: At the moment, my laundry consists of solely dark clothes with the exception of washing linen.) I’ve come to embrace laid back NorCal style and add a few new pieces every season to freshen up my wardrobe. Whether at a mountain wedding, spending summer kayaking on the lake, or adding fall essentials, this year’s style posts have spanned every occasion and adventure life has to offer in these mountain laden lands.

Travel & Adventure

This year’s adventures have been a bit more sporadic and local then I might like. (Goals for 2017 are to go a lot farther.) With day trips to Napa, San Francisco, and local hikes, I embraced everything the region had to offer. With 2017 on the horizon, I’ve been planning a trip of epic proportions.
